Three Tips to Realizing Your True Potential

Have you ever found yourself doubting your abilities? Wanting to take your life to that next level, but not sure that you have what it takes? I think we’ve all been there at one point or another in our lives, I know that I most certainly have. I would look at other people who were successful in the arena I wanted to be in, and say to myself, “Look at them. I could never do that. I could never be as successful as they are.” I would let these beliefs paralyze me, keeping me from ever moving forward in my life.

Till one day I said enough is enough. I am not going to let these beliefs hold me back anymore. I know that I can achieve great things and that I have a lot of value to offer the world. I started to ask successful people about their humble beginnings, and started to notice a trend, certain things they all did to help themselves realize the greatness within themselves. These three tips I would like to share with you, in hopes that they will help you break down any barriers you might have and help you realize that true potential.

Tip #1: If they did it, then you can too

All too often, we compare our worst to someone else’s best. We find ourselves struggling to put the pieces together, but look at someone’s finished product and begin the comparison game. Here’s the problem: they started exactly where we did. It is easy to see someone at the height of their success, and think you’ll never get there, but you have to remember, they started at square one just like you. They had to fight, struggle, and figure everything out to get to where they are now.

That should inspire you! Because if they did it, then that means you can too! We have to stop putting people up on these pedestals that we imagine are unattainable. The fact of the matter is that it isn’t true, and that they’d be the first to tell you that with hard work and dedication, you can achieve anything that they have.

Tip #2: Give it everything you’ve got

No matter what area of life you’re looking to level up in, you owe it to yourself to give it everything you’ve got. You owe it to yourself to see just what you are capable of, what you could accomplish if you took the lid off of your life. Even if you were to give it your all and not achieve your definition of success, you would learn so much valuable information and new skills along the way, that you would not have learned if you would not have given it shot.

Too many people live a life of regret because they let fear control their decision making process. They wanted to do something amazing, but instead chose to play it safe, thinking that they would fail before they even started. Now they live a life of regret, left to ponder the worst question we could ask ourselves, and that is what if. What if I had tried? What if I had not let doubt and fear control my life?

Tip #3: Remember the gifts that you were born with

We all have unique gifts and abilities that we have been blessed with. When we spend too much time focusing on others, we can forget about these amazing gifts we have to offer the world. Our story is the only one like it, and we never know what gifts and ideas we have that could benefit and inspire others.

Instead of spending time comparing yourself with someone else, why not take that time and devote it to enhancing those gifts and abilities you have even more? By channeling your time in an effective way, you can grow your skill set even more, and in the long run, achieve more.

There is nothing worse in life than wasted potential. We all have the potential to do anything and achieve amazing things. Don’t let your potential go to waste by letting fear, doubt, or someone else’s opinion dictate how you live your life.
