This by far, is our favorite time of the year! The leaves are changing, fall and winter decor make their way out of the closet, and lets not forget about Christmas music and movies! Out of all the things we love about the holidays, our favorite tradition has been to sit together, and reflect about the things we are grateful for. There are so many things to be grateful for, but we thought for the sake of this blog we would choose our top 3 for you.
Reason #1: Our Family and Friends
You guys, where would we all be without family and friends! The world would be a lonely place for sure. They are the ones we love with, laugh with, cry with, and share our lives with. Nothing is more important than them.
So take a moment to think back on all the amazing memories you have created over the past year. Chances are while you were creating those memories, you were doing that with someone. Our memories are made that much more special because of the people we have to share them with. Never forget that.
Reason #2: A Chance to Give Back
One of our favorite things to do during the holidays is to give back to others. We realize how grateful we are to have what we have, but realize that some people are so fortunate. So every year we will do a food drive, volunteer at a food bank, or find some other way where we can serve our community.
When we serve others, it not only takes our eyes off ourselves and our own problems, but it really puts everything into perspective. We start to realize that while we do have struggles in our lives, there are people who are struggling with some very difficult circumstances. Serving others like this give us an opportunity to show how grateful we are by serving others, which can be a huge catalyst for change.
Reason #3: My Wife
If I’m being completely honest, like would be so boring without Jill. The time we spend together truly makes life worth living. Being together now for 9 years, I can truly say that she makes me happier than I have ever been.
If you have a partner/significant other in your life, how much more do they make life worth living for you? I’m betting a lot! They know us like no one else does, and share in the most personal experiences of our lives. It’d be a boring journey, life, without them.
Jill and I have shared everything together. Our highs and our lows, our accomplishments and our struggles, our triumphs and our pain. They make the highs higher and the lows bearable, just by being by our side. So during the holiday season, really take the time to appreciate your partner. Tell them thank you, for all the amazing things that they do for you.
